Green Curtain Protection
The Green Curtain is one of the phenotypes responsible for Playa Grande's scenic beauty characterizing its spacious and desolate coastline. It is of great ecological importance because it protects the sand dune as a nesting site for sea turtles and it is a biological corridor for coastal species such as birds, iguanas, crabs, among others. It also reduces sonic and light pollution aimed at the beach, reduces erosion and calms the effects of climate change (high tides, strong winds). It is part of the National Park, but it requires the supervision of everyone to protect it from deforestation due to coastal development of private properties that boarder it. We are working with SINAC, ADE Ambiente and the forest fire bridage to raise the necessary funds to coordinate the installation of a firebreak that runs parallel to the beach between the 50-75 meter line with a distance of 2.5 km containing imformative signs to mark the perimeter between the National Park and private property. In addition, we support the coastal restoration efforts of the green curtain through reforestation projects of Costas Verdes, Mi Bosque, SINAC and ADE Ambiente de Playa Grande.
